|

The engine looks great, what about a model in LEGO® bricks? I started to email with Anita Witt from Desert Express and she sends me some nice coloured pictures form the train. Bllue - White - Yellow. Standard LEGO® colours! Even if Anita never has seen a picture of the model she was joking and said, I should bring a copy of the train down to Namibia.
November 2000 I start building ...
Dezember 2000 The LEGO® Desert Express is finished and first pictures are published on brickshelf.com. Transnamib the train operator in Namibia renews the invitation to come to Namibia if I will build a second train.
Februar 2001 I meet Anita in Germany and we were planing the trip face to face. Meanwhile I am seraching for bricks and the communtiy at 1000steine.de is very helpful.
December 2001 The offer becomes more detailed: Transnamib will pay for the flight, the trip on the real Desert Express, and a 10 day trip throuh the Namibian desert by 4x4!! January 2002 The preparations are nearly finished. The last stickers are fixed on the model and the tickets are booked. February 2002 On Feb, 18th 2002 I start from Frankfurt Main airport ...
